A Prayer for Protection and Deliverance (Audio)

Hear my voice, God, in my complaint. Preserve my life from fear of the enemy. Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the noisy crowd of the ones doing evil; who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and aim their arrows, deadly words, to shoot innocent men from ambushes. They shoot at him suddenly and fearlessly. They encourage themselves in evil plans. They talk about laying snares secretly. They say, “Who will see them?” They plot injustice, saying, “We have made a perfect plan!” Surely man’s mind and heart are cunning. But God will shoot at them. They will be suddenly struck down with an arrow. Their own tongues shall ruin them. All who see them will shake their heads. All mankind shall be afraid. They shall declare the work of God, and shall wisely ponder what he has done. The righteous shall be glad in Yahweh, and shall take refuge in him. All the upright in heart shall praise him!
(Palms 64:1-10 WEB)

This is a prayer of David who is praying for deliverance from cunning and malicious enemies; enemies who hide out in secret places to plot and plan for David’s destruction. They say to themselves, “who will see them?” In other words, who will find out that it’s really us that is taking him down? Sometimes people sit behind the scene, and do all the plotting, and then, seek out  the proper candidate to carry out their evil plans. They have nothing else to do but to sit around and encourage one another to do evil. It is true that idle hands are the devil’s workshop (Proverbs 16:27-29 WEB). They proceed with laying snares and traps without the fear of GOD. Little do they know that they will fall into the pit that they dig for others. GOD tells us that the very trap that we set for others is the same trap that we will fall into. If you start a stone to roll over someone else, it will end up rolling back over you (Proverbs 26:27 WEB). Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he will fall into his own trap; but the blameless will inherit good (Proverbs 28:10 WEB). In the midst of his trail and troubles, David saw the hand of GOD in the midst of it all.

David had come to the conclusion that he could not deliver himself, and to take on the enemy by himself he would surely fail. The Lord tells us that “the things that are impossible with men are possible with GOD” (Luke 18:27 WEB). David is confident that he is not alone (Josh 1:5; 2Chronicles 15,17 WEB). He knows that GOD hears and knows all about their schemes (Job 5:12 NET). Not only does GOD know who is committing the evil but GOD knows those who are working behind the scene, instigating and plotting the evil. GOD sees all, knows all and is all powerful. David knew that while the enemy is spending their time shooting at him, GOD is shooting right back at them (Psalms 64:7 WEB).

We need to know that in our most difficult moments; in our most trying times GOD will be with us in every step of the way; GOD will never leave nor forsake us. He will be with us always, even until the end of the world. Jesus told his disciples not to fear those who can kill the body, because after that, there is nothing else that they can do to you. But the one you should really fear is the one that has the power to cast your soul into hell.

Fear the one who can turn your night into day. Be not dismay, GOD will take care of you.

Fear the one who provides a bridge over trouble waters. When you are tossed and turned  every which way, we need to look up and remember that today is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!

Fear the one who can rebuke the winds and can say to the stormy sea, peace be still, and the wind will cease and a great clam will come to the sea.

GOD tells us that you need not to fight in this battle. Be still and hold your position and see the salvation of the Lord!
